Fajita Burger Wraps
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) Canola oil
- 2 4 oz (112 g) burger patties
- 3 Armstrong Mexican Fiesta Marble Jalapeño Cheddar Cheese slices, cut in half
- ½ small onion, sliced
- ½ small red bell pepper, cut into strips
- 1 tsp taco seasoning
- 2 oz (60ml) water
- 2 large flour tortillas (10 inch)
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) salsa
- Tortilla chips, crushed into coarse pieces
Directions
- Start by preparing your burger patty according to package instructions or use your own homemade recipe. Top it with a slice of Armstrong Mexican Fiesta Marble Jalapeño cheddar cheese. Keep warm while you prepare the onion pepper mixture.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet on medium heat. Add onions and peppers. Sauté until they become soft and fragrant, about 6 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning and continue to sauté until brown and caramelized. Add 2 oz of water and remove from heat. Stir the mixture to create a saucy glaze while the water reduces.
- Place ½ of a Mexican Fiesta cheese slice in the center of your tortilla. Place burger on top, followed by onion pepper mixture, salsa, and crushed tortilla chips.
- Fold the tortilla around the mixture to form a rectangular shape, ensuring that all ends are folded in to look like a parcel.
- Preheat a skillet on medium heat with 1 tbsp canola oil. Fry the wrap for 3-5 minutes with the seam side down until golden brown in color. Turn it over and fry for another 3-5 minutes until crispy.
- Remove from the pan. Pat dry on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Let sit for 2-3 minutes before cutting it in half with a serrated bread knife.
Tips
- Make this vegetarian by using your favorite plant-based burger.
- Substitute with turkey, pork, or chicken burgers
- Replace nacho chips with cracker crumbs or your favorite crispy snack broken into small pieces.
